For students wanting the most lower-division music preparation, the Shasta College Music Department faculty strongly encourage music students to consider completing the more rigorous Associate of Arts degree (A.A.) in Music instead of the AA-T in Music.

All students are advised to work directly with an Academic counselor.

*Please Note: MUS 2, 3, 4, and 5 are ONLY offered in the listed semester option (Fall OR Spring), and cannot be taken at any other time.

**AA please note:  The two recommended General Education music courses both satisfy the CSU (C1) and/or the UC (IGETC Area 3, Arts) requirements, but only one course from this category will apply for GE credit. MUS 10 double-counts for both the AA requirements and the General Education requirements so only one of the two additional recommended General Education courses will fulfill the unit requirements for the CSU/UC General Education patterns.

It is possible that students will require a 5th or 6th semester to finish required GE units. While students are finishing GE requirements, it is recommended that they continue to enroll in a large ensemble class for every remaining semester they are enrolled as a music major.

All students are advised to work directly with an Academic counselor.
