Welcome to the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) website.

Our mission is to provide information about effective, evidence-based teaching methods, and to support implementation of these methods at Shasta College.

The CELT is located in room 224 of the Shasta College Library. It is open to all faculty for workshops, group discussions, meetings, or just hanging out. It houses a variety of instructional resources, including: books and articles on teaching and learning; learning tools such as IF-AT forms, electronic tablets, small whiteboards; and so on.

Help with Canvas and other educational technology issues is available from Brianne Brichacek and Paul Burwick in room 226 (accessed via CELT).

A screencasting / video capture studio set up is available next door to CELT, and a Lightboard is currently under construction to be housed adjacent to CELT as well.

While our current workshop offerings are limited, the goal is to eventually offer a full calendar of educational improvement workshops and opportunities. An Active Learning interest / work group and a How Learning Works book / discussion group are now in the nascent stages and will hopefully be well underway by Spring 2018.

We are always looking for volunteers to run a workshop, host a discussion session, etc. If you are interested, please contact Mark Blaser, CELT Advisor (
