Technical Difficulties

Are you experiencing technical difficulties during your ITV class that's taking place RIGHT NOW? Below is the procedure to try and resolve the problems. 

 
  1. Call the ITV Extended Education office from your classroom phone at extension x7750 and describe the problem: What exactly is wrong?
    • ​If it's an audio problem: Which sites are affected and how? Can other sites be heard? Can other sites hear you? Et cetera.
    • If it's a visual problem: Which sites are affected and how? Can other sites be seen? Can other sites see you? Is your site's camera not pointed at you, the instructor? Are the screens at the front of the room black/didn't turn on when the conference started? Are your students' screens showing all the sites when you want them to only show you or what you are presenting in a full-screen mode? Et cetera.
    • Other problems: Are you having trouble switching between modes on the touch panel? Is the computer at the podium not logged on and isn't allowing you to log on? Et cetera.
  2. If you can't reach someone at x7750, try calling John Westlund at x7975 and describe the problem. 
  3. If you can't reach John Westlund, call Help Desk at x7999 and let the person who answers know that you are having ITV issues and cannot reach John or the ITV office. Describe the problem.
  4. If you can't reach HelpDesk via phone, email them at HelpDesk@shastacollege.edu (also copy jwestlund@shastacollege.edu and all of the Extended Education sites involved). Describe the problem in detail, and mark the email as high importance. Many times someone in IT will see what's wrong and know how to fix it, or will help you track down a solution.
 
Most of the time, we are able to resolve ITV conference issues in time for your class to continue. Sometimes, however, a technical or hardware malfunction has taken place, and class will have to be disrupted, or even cancelled until a part is fixed or someone from IT can physically go to the site having trouble.
