Multicriteria Selection Process​

Implementation Process and Timeline

Multicriteria Selection Process was written and approved by ADN staff based on the guidelines established in AB 548 regulations.

  • ADN Program Director, Linda Thomas; ADN Assistant Program Director, Roxi Redd; Academic Staff: Laurie Bish, Boo Hage, Brian Busk, Angela Nitsche, Terrie Snow and Michelle Morris.
  • Dean of Health Sciences, Kathy Royce, has reviewed and approved.
  • Director of Health Sciences Pathways, Outreach, and Retention, Kim Giles, has reviewed and approved.
  • Health Sciences Counseling, Melinda Marlatt, has reviewed and approved.
  • Tim Johnston, Associate Vice President of Student Services, and appropriate Admissions and Records staff have reviewed and approved. (May 2, 2017)
  • College Administration, Shasta College's Board of Trustees, the Board of Registered Nursing and the Chancellor's Office have reviewed and approved the Multicriteria Selection Process for admission to the ADN program.
  • Multicriteria Selection Process applications will be distributed starting April 11, 2018 and will be accepted May 21 - June 4, 2018. Admission through the new process will begin in Spring 2019, with 50% of the admitted students being pulled from Multicriteria applicants and 50% from the Wait List until it is depleted.

Notification Priorities
  • Notify and Educate Counseling and Health Sciences Administrative Assistants on new Multicriteria Selection Process. (May 2017)
  • Update current ADN web site, posting notification on the web page regarding changes in the application process. (May 2017)
  • Notify the Public that application for entry to the Wait List will be taken the first two weeks in March 2018 during the regularly posted application filing period. (July 2017)​
  • Notify Public that application for ADN program through Multicriteria Selection Proccess will begin in May 2018. (July 2017)​
  • Notify Public that applicants will still be drawn from the current Wait List until all names on the list have been exhausted. (July 2017)

Approximate Timeline of Implementation Process  ​​
​​​​July 2017 During July 2017 all applicants on the current Wait ​List will be confirmed by email. The staff will make two (2) email attempts to contact students (this is our current practice) to confirm their position and number placement on the Wait List.  If the applicant does not respond by the designated time they will be removed from the Wait List (as per current policy). 
Fall 2017​ Director of Health Sciences Pathways, Outreach and Retention will begin instruction at the high school level for the Multicriteria Selection Process.​
September 2017​ On September 18, 2017 an Informational Session for applications will be held instructing ​potential applicants on application process for the Wait List and information on the Multicriteria Selection Process.​
​December 6,
​Informational Session for the Multicriteria Selection Process that will begin in Spring 2018. 
Spring 2018​ Informational Session for the Wait List and for the Multicriteria Selection Process will be held February 12, 2018. The application filing period in March 2018 will be the last time applications are accepted for addition to the Wait List.​
April 11, 2018 Informational Session for the Multicriteria Selection Process that will begin in Spring 2018. 
​May 2018 ​Application filing period for the Multicriteria Selection Process will open May 21, 2018.
​June 2018 ​The application filing period for the Multicriteria Selection Process will close on June 4, 2018.
Fall 2018 The Health Sciences Division Office will send email notifications to applicants invited for the Spring 2019 and Fall 2019 cohorts and 5 alternates.​
