Season Outlook

The Knights are coming off an impressive season, one game shy of making the state playoffs.  Even though the Knights will no longer have their Golden Valley Conference (GVC) Offensive MVP and Goal Keeper MVP from last season due to both receiving scholarships to play at the university level, the Knights are excited to see what this years’ squad will be able to accomplish.  This years’ squad will have a large number of new faces with a few key returners.  The team will be made up of mainly local players from schools like Shasta High School, West Valley High School and Corning High School, but also a few players from outside the Redding area such as Nevada and Sao Paulo, Brazil.  Entrance to all home games for men’s and women’s soccer at the Shasta College campus are free.  Come out to support the Knights!        ~ Daniel Valdivia, Head Soccer Coach

Game Summaries 2014-15

8/29/14 at Contra Costa

The Knights first non-conference game was on the road versus Contra Costa.  Contra Costa came out controlling the flow of the game and were able to get a goal off a 20 yard shot that was deflected by a Shasta Knight in the 17th minute.  Later in 40th minute Contra Costa was able to get a corner kick that also took a deflection, putting the ball in the back of the net.  The Knights had a much better second half but were not able to generate a goal.  Contra Costa did not score in the second half either and the end score would be 0-2 in favor of Contra Costa. Goalkeeper Ramon Pena made a great diving save in the first half.  Goalkeeper Alexis Real played in the second half, recording a shut-out for his first outing as a Knight.

9/3/14 at Napa Valley

The Knights traveled to Napa Valley College for their second game, hoping for a win.  The Knights came out strong, controlling the game with many scoring opportunities and possession.  In the 10th minute, Harold Stacey nearly scored a goal but it was partially blocked by the Napa goalkeeper.  However Stacey was tenacious and followed his shot and was able to poke the ball away and assist Caden Reid for the first goal of the Knights season.  The score would remain 1-0 in favor of the Knights up to half-time.  Napa came out strong in the second half with 4 unanswered goals.  The Knights had their fair share of goal scoring opportunities in the second half but could not put them in the back of the net.  Goalkeeper Alexis Real played the first half of the game, recording his second shut-out of the season.
