Email Coach Gutierrez
Gutierrez has been coaching the Knight’s tennis team for over 30 years now! It’s been a great journey through the years. Prior to coaching at Shasta College, Coach
Gutierrez was the teaching pro at the local tennis club in Redding, Sun Oaks,
for 16 years as well as part owner for a period of time. Many of the young players he taught during
those years at the club ended up competing at Shasta College. Most notable were Todd Stanley and Chris
Gerety. Todd, a Shasta High graduate,
was the 1985 California State Singles Jr. College Champion while competing for
Shasta College. During that year, Todd
and Chris Gerety (an Enterprise grad) formed one of the top doubles teams in
the state while competing for the Knights.
have been numerous athletes that have qualified for the State Championships while
playing for Coach Gutierrez at Shasta College.
Coach Gutierrez is
extremely proud of his daughter, Elena, and son, Gabriel, who are both
excelling in their academics and careers.
Gabe is attending UC Berkeley while Elena has completed a Doctorate in
Industrial Organizational Psychology.

Molthop is very excited to be part of the program at Shasta College, as he
enjoys teaching the fundamentals of tennis as well as inspiring a competitive
spirit. Ed resides in Redding with his wife, Elizabeth,
who he met on the court!
