Coach Bryon Hamilton enters his first season as the Knight’s Head Track and Field Coach. Coach Hamilton brings 24 years of coaching experience to the Knight’s program. Coach Hamilton also serves as the Associate Head Football Coach for the Knights.     

Hamilton is a 1987 graduate of Enterprise High School and a 1992 Graduate of Long Beach State University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. He also played five years of NCAA Division I football.  He holds  a Master’s Degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University in Irvine, California, and a California State Teaching Credential from Simpson University  in Redding, California. Prior to his full-time position at Shasta, Hamilton spent 22 years as an educator at Foothill High School. Coach Hamilton resides in Redding with his wife, Amber, and their three children, Beau, Riley, and Presley.

Coach Katy Cottrell just finished  her first season as the Head Cross Country Coach for the Knights and is in charge of our Distance Runners for Track and Field. As a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach, she also serves as our team’s strength coach and assistant sprints coach. She attended Yreka High School and Mendocino College before Graduating from College of Idaho in 2009. In 2011, Katy obtained a Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology from College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN. After grad school, she helped train multiple endurance athletes at Mountain Athlete in Jackson, Wyoming which included mountain runners working to push the limits in running alpine peaks at high elevation. Her focus on individualized athletic development coupled with her knowledge of strength training and injury prevention is a winning combination for the Shasta College Knights.

Anthony Cavalli 

Anthony Cavalli is joining the Track and Field coaching staff serving his first year as the Sprinting Coach. Anthony has been a member of the Knight’s Football staff since 2013, serving as the Defensive Backs coach and two seasons working with the inside receivers under Coach Bryon Hamilton. Prior to joining the coaching staff, Coach Cavalli was a member of the Knight’s Football team in 2011. Anthony was an All-Conference selection as a Wide Receiver during the Knight’s 2011 season along with being an All-Region III Wide Receiver. Coach Cavalli graduated from Enterprise High School in 2011 and was part of the 2010 Section Champion team. In high school Anthony ran the hurdles and sprints for Track in Field.

Anthony Williams will be entering his first year as the Jumps and Hurdles coach. Anthony is a graduate of Enterprise High School where he excelled in several sports. Upon graduation Anthony attended Sacramento State University on a track and field scholarship. While at Sacramento State Anthony was  second at the Big Sky Championships in both the 110-hurdles and the high jump and was eighth in the triple jump…advanced to the NCAA West Preliminary in the high jump…moved into ninth place in school history with a high jump of 6-11.00 to win the Causeway Classic…best 110H time was 14.76 at the Sacramento State Open and Big Sky Championships…triple jumped 45-04.25 at the Causeway Classic.…indoors, placed second in the high jump, fifth in the 60-hurdles and sixth in the triple jump…ranks third in school history in the high jump after clearing 6-10.75 at the Husky Open…moved into ninth place at Sacramento State in the 60-hurdles with a best of 8.34 in the Big Sky finals…top triple jump was 45-07.00 also at the Big Sky meet. Anthony brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the Knight’s coaching staff.

Jacob Barker enters his first year as a Throws coach for Shasta College Track and Field. He graduated from Molalla High school in Molalla, OR in 2007, where he competed in varsity Track and Field for four years claiming 6 conference titles and 2 state titles in the throws. Following his graduation from Molalla, he served in the United States Marine Corps as Infantry under 3rd Battalion 5th Marines Kilo Co. where he was deployed to the Middle East. After returning he coached one year of high school Track and Field before moving to Redding where he played for the Knight’s Football team and participated in Track and Field. Jacob Barker brings knowledge of the Throws learned under a USATF certified official and Ironwood Throws coach and the training he received from two US Olympic Throwers to the coaching staff of the Knights Track and Field team.

Taylor Duncan 

Taylor Duncan will be entering his first year coaching the Throws (Shot Put, Disc, Hammer and Javelin) and Pole Vault for the Knights.  Duncan graduated from Del Norte High School in Crescent City, CA where he was a three sport athlete. Following graduation he received a scholarship to the University of California Santa Barbara where he competed on the Track and Field team, mainly in Pole Vault for four years. Upon receiving his Bachelor’s in History from UCSB he moved to Chico and coached track and field at Pleasant Valley High School for 2 years. While coaching he received his teaching credential from Chico State University.  Duncan now teaches Social Studies and coaches football at Central Valley High School in Shasta Lake.  Coach Duncan brings Division 1 competition experience, high school coaching experience and a wealth of knowledge in all areas of track and field to the Knight’s coaching staff.
