The educational objective of the Vocational Nursing program is to prepare an individual who, upon program completion and successful completion of the NCLEX-PN will be able to function within the scope of practice as defined in the Vocational Nursing Practice Act.
- Provide competent nursing care based upon scientific principles for patients of any age in a variety of work settings under the direction of the registered nurse or physician.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, peers, and other members of the health team.
- Utilize the Nursing Process to individualize patient care in any health care setting.
- Assist in the learning process by teaching patients to achieve and promote optimal health maintenance and wellness.
- Incorporate leadership skills by managing a group of patients and directing other members of the health care team within the vocational nurse's scope of practice.
