Book in Common Project

Click here for the Fall '12 Schedule of Activities.

The Book in Common program is an exciting opportunity for Shasta College employees to read the same book during one semester and to join in focused group discussions and activities FOR FLEX CREDIT.  This program will be offered every semester, and will showcase a new book or series of scholarly articles.

For this first Book in Common, 50 copies of Bridges Out of Poverty: Strategies for Professionals and Communities by Ruby K. Payne, Philip E. DeVol and Terie Dreussi Smith are available for faculty, staff, and administrators who are interested in participating in Shasta's first Book In Common series.  To participate in this program, please email Candace Byrne (, Teresa Doyle ( or Shelly Presnell ( as soon as possible, as we expect the 50 spots to fill quickly.

We are grateful to the EOPS office for its generous support of this project.
