Overview

The purpose of the CalWORKs Work Study program is to help interested, eligible students prepare for finding, applying for, obtaining and sustaining work in their field of study.  The program may be able to link students with paid work opportunities that will enable CalWORKs student to meet CalWORKs work requirements while pursuing an educational goal.

CalWORKs Work Study is a state funded program that can subsidize a portion of off-campus and on-campus employment for eligible CalWORKs students.  The Shasta College CalWORKs Work Study technician and the student work together as a team to find work study positions.

CalWORKs Work Study Student Services Learning Outcomes

  1. Upon completing the work study introductory meeting with the CalWORKs Work Study Technician a student should be able to identify what his / her next steps are to find a work study positions in his / her field of study. 
  2. Upon completing the resume preparation meeting with the CalWORKs Work Study Technician a student should be able to use his / her outline, created during the meeting, to identify the next steps needed to be taken to create a first draft of his / her resume.

  3. Upon completing the interview preparation meeting with the CalWORKs Work Study Technician a student should be able explain how to prepare for a job interview.
