New Student to CalWORKs Work Study

The program’s goal is to help interested, eligible students prepare for finding, applying for, obtaining and sustaining work in their field of study.  The program may be able to link you with paid work opportunities that will enable you to meet CalWORKs Welfare to Work requirements and to provide you with an additional source of income.

Among other requirements, to be eligible for a CalWORKs work study position, a participant must have completed one successful semester.  This is to demonstrate that the student will be more likely to be able to add employment to a busy school schedule.  There are two steps you need to take to get started:
  1. Sign the Student Responsibility Agreement.  We all can agree that it is a tough job market.  By reading and signing the agreement you acknowledge that you will take your job search and our efforts to assist you seriously and professionally.  : )
  2. Contact Hilly Wallis.  Together we can create, update or polish your resume.  If you are eligible and employment is a possibility, we will match your information with either on-campus or off-campus part time job opportunities.
An educational program combined with employment leads to being more employable and marketable.  This can result in you qualifying for higher paying jobs!
