Influenza (Flu) information and resources

Have you ever wondered why you need a flu vaccination each year? A new animated video from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) explains the ever-mutating nature of influenza viruses.

See the NIAID video on YouTube. (2 minutes, 57 seconds long)
Seasonal flu peaks late January to early March, and you have flu immunity about 2 weeks after vaccination, so early January is not too late to get a seasonal flu shot. Contact your healthcare provider or local health department for information on seasonal flu shot availability. Though our office does not carry seasonal flu vaccine, our office annually facilitates an on-site flu shot clinic with Shasta County Public Heatlh. Please call our office for the current year's shot clinic details.
