Veterans Grove

Rarely can you find a person that does not know a veteran. If the person is not your mother, father, sister, brother, son or daughter, he or she may be your aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, grandmother or grandfather. If you have to look a little farther; she or he may be your neighbor, co-worker, teacher, coach or mentor. I'll bet if you have to look even farther, it  may be that person living under the bridge, sleeping in the park or staying at the local mission or shelter. It's safe to say we all know a veteran, even if we don't know it. The Shasta-Tehama-Trinity Joint Community College District created a "Veterans Grove" on the Shasta College main campus in recognition of all the men and women from our District and from this nation who have served and are serving our country to preserve the freedoms that we all enjoy. The Veterans Grove is near the quad in the grassy area just behind Oakey Doaks. It is a grove of incense cedar trees, with a winding path and benches where anyone can take a few moments to reflect on that veteran that they knew or didn't know.
Thank you to everyone who donated their time, money, and material to the Shasta College Veterans Grove!  We planted the trees on October 22nd.  We held a dedication ceremony on Veteran's Day, November 11 at 2:00 pm.
