19-20 Financial Aid Forms​
 
In order for Shasta College to determine your eligibility to receive federal and state aid, the Department of Education requires colleges to verify specific information submitted on your FAFSA.
 
Peak processing times: August, September and January

Submission Instructions:   

  1. Refer to "My Financial Aid" on your "MyShasta" to view the requested Financial Aid Documents.
  2. Submit the requested documents electronically. 
    Note: some forms are not available for electronic submission and must be submitted via e-mail, mail, or in person.

19-20 California Dream Act Verification Forms
 Below are the 19-20 California Dream Act Forms and/or Instructions explaining communication requests that have been requested through "My Financial Aid" on your MyShasta account. You will also be sent an email with the links to the form(s) being requested.​

​19-20 Appeal Process / Applications​
  •  ​Appeals can take up to 2-4 weeks to process during peak times (August, September and January)
  • Additional documentation may be required based on the initial appeal submitted, which can delay processing. Submitting full documentation with a clear explanation of your or your parents situation helps to expedite processing.
  • All appeals are evaluated on a case by case basis.
 
​​Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Appeals:​
​​ If it has been determined that you are ineligible for Financial Aid because you did not meet one or more of the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards, you can appeal this decision by submitting additional information regarding the unusual circumstances that prevented you from meeting these standards.​​​
​19-20 SAP appeals cannot be accepted until the Spring 2019 Grades have been posted. The link to the appeal will be live at that time​.
 

​​​​​Submit a Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) appeal​


​​​Typical documentation that should be gathered prior to submitting the appeal:
  • ​Any third party documentation that validates the reasoning for not making SAP two semesters in a row. Examples of third party documentation: Police Reports, Social Services reports, letters/statements from employers/counselors, medical reports, etc...
  • ​Appeals submitted without third party documentation will be delayed and possibly not approved for an appeal depending upon the reasoning.

​​Professional Judgement Appeal - Dependency Status
​If you were considered a dependent on your FAFSA and are unable to provide your parent(s) information due to extenuating circumstances, you can submit a request to have your dependency status reconsidered.

​​Typical documentation that should be gathered prior to submitting the appeal:
  • ​Any third party documentation that validates the reasoning for the inability to provide your parent(s) information. Examples of third party documentation: Police Reports, Social Services reports, letters/statements from employers/counselors, medical reports, etc...
  • ​Appeals submitted without third party documentation will be delayed and possibly not approved for an appeal depending upon the reasoning.
 
  
Professional Judgement Appeal - EFC / Income Adjustment
If you or your parent(s) current income is different from the income reported on the FAFSA due to unforeseen circumstances, you may submit a request to reprocess your FAFSA using current and/or projected income.​

Typical documentation that should be gathered prior to submitting the appeal:
    • 2017 Income Documents (IRS Tax Transcript, IRS Wage and Income Transcripts, etc...)
    • 2018 Income Documents (IRS Tax Transcript, IRS Wage and Income Transcripts, Unemployment statements, W2's, etc...).  Any documents that can prove your income change from the required 2017 tax year.

                    OR (depending on which year you are requesting for consideration)

    • 2019  Income Documents (Unemployment statements, paystubs year to date, etc...). Any documents that can prove your income change from the required 2017 tax year.

If you have been homeless prior to attending college, please complete the Form HYCR to be evaluated for priority registration.
