Applying for Financial Aid​

1. Apply for Admission to Shasta College and obtain access to your MyShasta Portal.
 
2. Submit your BOG (Board of Governors) Fee Waiver application online or complete the paper application 
and return to the Shasta College Financial Aid Office.  
 
3.  The FAFSA requires an annual submission every year. The 2016-17 FAFSA (opened January 1st 2016)   covers Fall-16, Spring-17, and Summer-17. The 2017-18 FAFSA (opened October 1st 2016) covers Fall-17, Spring-18, and Summer-18. Use the following worksheets to help collect required information for the FAFSA prior to submitting:

4. Once the Shasta College Financial Aid Office has received your FAFSA an email notification will be sent to you that includes instructions on submitting required forms/packets for processing. It is possible that no  additional documentation is required to finish processing your financial aid file. If this is the case, no forms will be listed as "Needed" in your MyShasta account. If forms are needed, you will also have access to a list of your required forms/packet via the MyForms screen in your My Shasta Account. All financial aid forms and instructions on how to submit them can be found here.  
 
5. An email notification will be sent to you if further information is needed. Regularly check your email and 
MyShasta account for updated information regarding the status of your Financial Aid. Submit any additionally required paperwork in a timely manner. View the current processing timeframe here.
 
6. Once your processing is complete, you will be notified by email to inform you of your current eligibility for  Financial Aid. If you are notified that you are eligible, log onto your MyShasta Account to view your Financial Aid Award Letter. Check the disbursement schedule for information on when to expect your  disbursements throughout the semester. If you were determined to be ineligible, information on why you are ineligible will be posted to the My Forms screen of your My Shasta Account.
 
Important Notes:
  • It is the students responsibility to stay informed of notifications sent out via email and posted on our website.
  • It is also the students responsibility to maintain and be aware of their Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standing.
  • If at any point it is determined that the student is ineligible for Financial Aid any awards will be cancelled. If a disbursement has already been processed, it is the students responsibility to repay any funds received.
  • It is also the students responsibility to notify the college if the student is attending another college and financial aid awarded at Shasta College needs to be cancelled.
