10/29/18 Federal Student Aid Outage Alert

  • ​During the period of November 3-4, 2018, the Federal Student Aid Websites and systems has a planned maintenance. Users will be unable to access items that require an FSA ID. 
  • During November 11-12, 2018 the IRS Data Retrieval Tool will be unavailable due to IRS system upgrades. actions may still be completed on your FAFSA. However if an action requires entry of federal tax information they will need to be provided manually. applications may wish to complete the application after the outage is over.

8/6/18: Financial Aid Updates for Fall-18 Semester:
  • The first disbursement of Pell Grant is scheduled for 8/17/2018. Please check your award letter for 2018/19 Academic year. If you have Pell grant and are enrolled actively in Fall-18 classes, you can expect a disbursement. If you are not actively enrolled and/or do not have Pell Grant on your award letter please ensure that you have completed all required steps through your MyShasta portal.
  • Book Grants/Loans are available now for students who are not set up to receive a Pell Grant disbursement on 8/17/2018. Visit:
  • Cal Grant Awards have been posted to students accounts that were on the California Student Aid Commissions roster. They will remain in a "pending" status until enrollment is certified after census date on 9/4/2018. Cal Grant disbursements will start occurring mid-late September.
  • Full Time Student Success Grants Merges with the California Community College Completion Grant=  Student Success Completion Grant (SSCG) effective Fall:2018

11/2/2017- New California Community College Completion Grant (CCCCG)!

Starting Fall-17 the a new State Grant called the CCCCG ($1500 annually) is in progress of being implemented. The basic eligibility criteria is as follows. Students must have the following: Cal B or C certified at full time enrollment, the Full Time student success grant, actively enrolled in 15+ units, hold a 2.0 cumulative GPA (or new student) and have a comprehensive educational plan on file. We will be reaching out to eligible students and providing additional guidance as we implement.

11/1/2017- The BOG Fee Waiver has been renamed!!!

The BOG Fee Waiver has been renamed to the California College Promise Grant!! Starting in the 2018/19 academic award year we will be implementing the new title for the BOG Fee Waiver.

10/31/2017- The California College Promise Program Clarification

The California College Promise Program has specific requirements for colleges to be eligible to participate and receive State funding to assist with the Costs of implementing/running the program. At this point we believe that Shasta College will qualify and will implement this program starting Fall-18. Students would have to be enrolled in 12+ units and be a new college student. At this point, we are waiting on guidance and encourage all students to continue to submit all Financial Aid Applications including the FAFSA, BOG Fee Waiver and apply for scholarships.

9/15/17 - Financial Aid Customer Service Has Relocated!!

Financial Aid Staff & Customer Service are now located​ at Admissions & Records (Main Campus, Building 100, Room 158).
Visit us Monday-Thursday, 8:00am-6:00pm and Friday 8:00am-noon.
​Veteran customer service remains in Room 108 during normal business hours.​

The entire Community College District has been experiencing email outages since 10/9/17. Currently our email is down. If you have questions, please call or come into one of our campuses. We apologize for the inconvenience and are working on resolving this issue as soon as possible.

9/28/17- 2018/19 FAFSA and CADAA Applications Open 10/1/2017!!! Apply early to receive the most Financial Aid possible for the 2018/19 Academic Year! 

Starting 10/1/17 submit your 18/19 FAFSA at: The 18/19 FAFSA will cover: Summer-18, Fall-18Spring-19 & Summer-19.

Note: Summer terms will be determined based on year round Pell Grant eligibility

8/15/17 NEW Cal Grant Recipients​, Claim your Cal Grant:
Once CSAC as notified you regarding a Cal Grant award, you must create a Webgrants 4 S​tudents account and claim your Cal Grant award. If you do not claim your award, the school you are attending will not be able to disburse funds.

7/5/17 - Crisis Text Line Services Expanded to Serve California Community College Students.

4/24/17- IRS Return Transcript and Verification of Non-Filing
The Department of Education (DOE) announced today that students and parents can submit signed paper copies of their full 2015 IRS tax return, that was used by the tax filer for submission to the IRS, to verify 2015 FAFSA/ISIR tax return information. The DOE also waived the requirement of colleges to request IRS verification of Non-Filing transcripts. If you have questions or think this may effect you, please contact our office for guidance.

3/21/17: Summer Processing
If you plan to attend Summer 2017 and would​ like to have your financial aid eligibility​ reviewed submit the following to our office:
  • 16-17 FAFSA Application (if it is not already on file with our office)
  • A Copy of your Summer 2017 Registration /Schedule
  • ​Summer funds are disbursed in one payment. 
  • Eligibility​ is based off the 16-17 FAFSA, if you have used all funds during Fall 2016 & Spring 2017 you may not be eligible for summer funding.
4/3/17- The IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) Update-
The IRS DRT will be unavailable until extra security protections can be added. They expect the DRT to be available for the 2018-19 FAFSA season, which will open 10/1/2017.

Apply now for the 17/18 BOG Fee waiver if you plan on attending: Summer-17, Fall-17 and/or Spring-18. If awarded the BOG Fee Waiver, the standard $46/unit will be waived.
2/16/2017: Holiday Office Closure Reminder:
The college, including all Student Services Offices, will be closed on Friday, February 17th and Monday, February 20th in observance of the Lincoln Day and Washington Day Holidays. We will re-open Tuesday February 21st and resume regular business hours. Our office wishes everyone a great four day weekend!
2/15/2017: Homeless Youth for Priority Registration:
A student who is declared a homeless youth may be eligible to receive priority registration. A homeless youth is an individual under the age of 25 who has lacked a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence. 1/17/2017 LOSS OF BOG- Spring-17 Alert
The evaluation for students who may have lost their BOG Fee Waiver eligibility for Spring-17 has been completed and accounts updated. If you have lost your BOG we encourage students to Appeal through Admissions.  The appeal form can be found at: Loss of BOG Appeal Form  
1/10/2017: Pell Grant Disbursement 1/13/2017
In order for a student to receive a Pell Grant disbursement on 1/13/2017, the student must have had a Pell Grant on their award letter, registered in active classes and in good standing with SAP prior to 1/9/2017. The  next possible disbursement will be 1/27/2017. 
1/9/2017: Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Fall-16 Alert
SAP calculations have been processed for all Fall 2016 grades. Notifications have been applied to students' accounts. If you have lost your Spring 2017 awards due to ineligibility please visit our SAP page  to learn more on how to regain your eligibility.

12/7/16: 2017-18 FAFSA Processing Update

The Financial Aid Office will start processing 2017/18 FAFSA applications starting in January of 2018. Please continue to check your MyShasta Portal and email for updates. We​ encourage all students and parents to  utilize the Data Retrieval tool within the FAFSA to streamline processing. If you have already submitted your FAFSA, you can go back in to your FAFSA use the Data Retrieval Tool and resubmit.

We have a report of a student being contacted by the "federal​ reserve" letting them know if they purchase an iTunes gift card they could be eligible for additional grants. The FAFSA is the state and federal application for student aid. FAFSA means "Free Application for Student Aid".  Don't pay for free money!​

10/12/15 - Have your circumstances changed?
We are now taking Unusual Circumstance Appeals. The unusual circumstance appeal will allow
us to re-evaluate your file using current information /income rather than 2014 information/
income. For more information on this process click "Appeal Forms" on our menu and scroll to
the bottom of the webpage.
New State Grant available to full-time Cal-Grant B eligible students!
The Full Time Student Success Grant (FTSSG) is a new state grant that will be awarded to all
students who are certified eligible for Cal-grant B by Shasta College.
The maximum award amount is $600.00 ($300. per semester). Keep an eye on your award
letter to see if you are eligible. The first disbursement of this grant will be early October 2015!
