10/6/19: IRS Data Retrieval Tool Outage

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) will be unavailable on Sunday, October 6, 2019, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern time (ET) as the IRS completes critical system upgrades. During this outage period, users may access, the myStudentAid mobile app, and However, if an action requires entry of federal tax information, the tax information will need to be provided manually. Applicants may wish to complete the application after the outage is over. We apologize for the inconvenience this outage may cause and appreciate your patience as the IRS completes these important upgrades.​

8/9/2019: Fall-19 Pell Grant Disbursements

The Fall-19 first pell grant disbursement will process on the morning of 8/12/2019. The funds will become available to students on August 16th 2019, depending on the refund selection choice through Bank Mobile.

In order for students to be included on the first disbursement, they must be awarded the pell grant, actively enrolled and remain SAP eligible in order to receive a pell grant disbursement. If a student misses the first disbursement, once processed, enrolled, or approved for an appeal, the students disbursement will go out on the next possible disbursement. 8/8/2019: Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) -Summer-19 Processed

If you attended courses during the Summer semester, your SAP status has been updated in your MyShasta Portal. As a reminder, you must maintain the minimum SAP standards each semester to remain eligible to receive federal and state financial aid (excluding the fee waivers).

3/15/2019: IRS Tax Transcripts Vs. Signed Copies for FAFSA Verifications

For the 2018/19 and/or 2019/20 FAFSA verifications, IRS Tax Transcripts or signed copies of 1040's is acceptable documentation to complete a FAFSA verification.

8/6/18: Financial Aid Updates for Fall-18 Semester:
  • The first disbursement of Pell Grant is scheduled for 8/17/2018. Please check your award letter for 2018/19 Academic year. If you have Pell grant and are enrolled actively in Fall-18 classes, you can expect a disbursement. If you are not actively enrolled and/or do not have Pell Grant on your award letter please ensure that you have completed all required steps through your MyShasta portal.
  • Book Grants/Loans are available now for students who are not set up to receive a Pell Grant disbursement on 8/17/2018. Visit:
  • Cal Grant Awards have been posted to students accounts that were on the California Student Aid Commissions roster. They will remain in a "pending" status until enrollment is certified after census date on 9/4/2018. Cal Grant disbursements will start occurring mid-late September.
  • Full Time Student Success Grants Merges with the California Community College Completion Grant=  Student Success Completion Grant (SSCG) effective Fall:2018

11/2/2017- New California Community College Completion Grant (CCCCG)!

Starting Fall-17 the a new State Grant called the CCCCG ($1500 annually) is in progress of being implemented. The basic eligibility criteria is as follows. Students must have the following: Cal B or C certified at full time enrollment, the Full Time student success grant, actively enrolled in 15+ units, hold a 2.0 cumulative GPA (or new student) and have a comprehensive educational plan on file. We will be reaching out to eligible students and providing additional guidance as we implement.

11/1/2017- The BOG Fee Waiver has been renamed!!!

The BOG Fee Waiver has been renamed to the California College Promise Grant!! Starting in the 2018/19 academic award year we will be implementing the new title for the BOG Fee Waiver.

10/31/2017- The California College Promise Program Clarification

The California College Promise Program has specific requirements for colleges to be eligible to participate and receive State funding to assist with the Costs of implementing/running the program. At this point we believe that Shasta College will qualify and will implement this program starting Fall-18. Students would have to be enrolled in 12+ units and be a new college student. At this point, we are waiting on guidance and encourage all students to continue to submit all Financial Aid Applications including the FAFSA, BOG Fee Waiver and apply for scholarships.

9/15/17 - Financial Aid Customer Service Has Relocated!!

Financial Aid Staff & Customer Service are now located​ at Admissions & Records (Main Campus, Building 100, Room 158).
Visit us Monday-Thursday, 8:00am-6:00pm and Friday 8:00am-noon.
​Veteran customer service remains in Room 108 during normal business hours.​

9/28/17- 2018/19 FAFSA and CADAA Applications Open 10/1/2017!!! Apply early to receive the most Financial Aid possible for the 2018/19 Academic Year! 

Starting 10/1/17 submit your 18/19 FAFSA at: The 18/19 FAFSA will cover: Summer-18, Fall-18Spring-19 & Summer-19.

Note: Summer terms will be determined based on year round Pell Grant eligibility

8/15/17 NEW Cal Grant Recipients​, Claim your Cal Grant:
Once CSAC as notified you regarding a Cal Grant award, you must create a Webgrants 4 S​tudents account and claim your Cal Grant award. If you do not claim your award, the school you are attending will not be able to disburse funds.
