Loss of BOGFW Regulation Effective Fall-2016

Effective Fall 2016, California Community College students receiving the BOG Fee Waiver must meet minimum academic and progress standards to remain eligible for the BOG Fee Waiver.

Students Must:

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.00
  • Successfully complete at least 50% of all units attempted
  1. If a student is placed on "Academic" or "Progress Probation" through Admissions and Records for two consecutive primary terms, the student will lose eligibility for the BOG Fee Waiver.
  2. The student could also lose enrollment priority through Admissions and Records if the cumulative GPA falls below 2.0 for two consecutive primary terms.
  3. Students who lose BOG Fee Waiver eligibility will have an opportunity to regain eligibility by meeting the above listed standards or through an Admissions and Records appeal process.

NOTE: Foster youth and students receiving the CAL Vet Fee Waiver are exempt from these regulations.

BOG Fee Waiver Tips and Reminders:

How will a student know if he/she was approved for the BOG Fee Waiver?

Once your application is approved the BOGFW will be posted to your student account, and will be added to your Financial Aid Award Letter, which you may view via your My Shasta account online.  If you apply by mail or by using the electronic application you will receive an email notification regarding your eligibility.

NOTE: The BOGFW will be listed as "Accepted or Awarded" in "My Shasta" under Financial Aid by Year. Remember, this is a non-cash award.

If a student qualifies for the BOG Fee Waiver, will he/she be eligible for EOPS?

Possibly. The student would have to be awarded a BOG through method A or B and apply within EOPS's application period. There are other EOPS eligibility requirements. Read more at: EOPS Webpage

What should the student do if they are not eligible through the State BOG application?

All students are recommended to submit their FAFSA. A student can still be eligible for the BOG Fee Waiver, and many other federal and state grants/loans through the FAFSA. Apply now at: https://www.fafsa.gov
