Shasta College AG/NR Student Leaders Constitution

Article I
The name of the organization shall be known as the Shasta College Agriculture/ Natural Resources Student Leaders.

Article II
Purpose:
A. To develop leadership abilities in agriculture and natural resources students.
B. To develop character, citizenship and patriotism in agriculture and natural resource students.
C. To introduce the students to future careers in agriculture and natural resources.
D. To develop better communication between high school and college agriculture and natural resource students.
E. To build community interest through projects, community service, and affiliations.
F. To generate funds for the purpose of exposing out members to the agriculture and natural resources throughout the world.
G. To promote bonds between students of different majors in agriculture, horticulture, natural resources, equipment operations, ect.
H. Keep ties with local FFA and agriculture high school programs.

Article III
Membership:
A. Membership shall be open to any students enrolled in Shasta College.
B. All members shall perform any and all duties as requested by the organization.
C. Members maybe revoked by a special review committee that will be instituted
as the needs arises.
D. A review committee shall consist of five members at large and one advisor.

Article IV
Advisor:
A. The function of the advisor shall be to assist in the administration of the
building, organization and planning of events.
B. There shall be one main advisor from the Agriculture department of Shasta
College, with co-advisors from the Natural Resources Department as well
as the vocational programs.

Article V
Quorum:
A. A quorum shall consist of one more then half of the current membership.

Article VI
Meetings:
A. There shall be a meeting held on a biweekly basis: time and place at the discretion of the membership at large.
B. There shall be no business transacted without a quorum present.
C. Special meetings may be called by the president upon 24 hours notice.

Article VII
Officers:
A. Section 1: Officer elections will be held once a year during spring semester. Special elections will be held if needed due to officers leaving, etc.
Section 2: The election of officers shall be by simple majority vote and secret ballot.
Section 3: Officers must be registered in the AG/NR leadership class.

Article VIII
Parliamentary Authority:

A. The president of the club shall address questions and comments. Majority rule shall govern all proceeding of the AG/NR not specifically covered in the constitution or bylaws.

Article VIIII
Bylaws and amendments to bylaws:

A. Bylaws consist with the constitution, embodying additional provisions for the government of AG/NR, shall be adopted and maybe amended or rescinded by vote of regular members at any meeting of the AG/NR; provide the one weeks notice has been given to all members.

Shasta College AG/NR Students Leaders Bylaws

Article I
Officer Duties and Responsibilities:

A. President
a. It shall be the duty of the president to preside over all meetings of the AG and NR leadership club and over all meetings of executive committees.
b. The president shall appoint all special committees and may serve as an ex-officio member of these committees.
c. The president shall serve as a member of the nominating and executive committees the year following his/her term as president.
d. President must delegate duties and committee chairs.
e. The president must have a good knowledge in parliamentary procedure and ability to effectively run meetings.
f. The president must be a conflict resolver.

B. Vice President
a. The vice president shall assume all duties of the president in the event that office becomes vacant. He/she shall assume disciplinary responsibilities of AG/NR leadership events. He/She shall preside over meetings in the absence of the president. He/She will act as chairmen of any and all current committees. He/She must aid and assist president in decisions and events.

C. Secretary
a. The secretary shall perform the duties common to such an office as keeping an accurate record of the minutes of the state association or the minutes of committees (if needed). Copies of the minutes of these meetings shall also be made available to each member and each advisor.

D. Treasurer
a. The treasurer shall maintain an accurate balances of the clubs money. Treasurer shall total the balance of moneys at meetings also stating PO’s outstanding and finished. Keep an accurate record book and fill out PO paperwork and turn in said paper work.

E. Reporter
a. It shall be the duty of the reporter to assist with the development of the California FFA publication, assist with collecting data for the official state report, and prepare news notes suitable for publication on all meetings of the state association. Other duties may be assigned to him/her by the editor of the California FFA newsletter or by the executive committee.

F. Sentinel
a. It shall be the duty of the sentinel to assist in the conduct of all statewide meetings by greeting guests, seating delegates, arranging paraphernalia, and decorations; and to carry out other duties assigned to him/her by the president.

Article II
Removal of Officers Procedures:
A. First offense
a. Have a meeting with the officer, Club president and advisor. Ask the officer what is going on. Do you need another club member’s help ect.
B. Second Offense
a. Hold a meeting with officer, department head, dean, club president and club advisor.
C. Third offense
a. Hold an actual ½ + 1 vote by the leadership class to recall the officer in question.

Article III
Trips:
A. Everyone participating in club trips must have a minimum of 2.5 GPA
B. Expansion trip shall be every spring semester for students who have participated in the AG/NR club for 3 semesters or more.
C. Expansion trip participants must write a letter to the dean and Ag department advisor stating why they deserve to participate in the trip.
