Are you ready to graduate? Submit the Degree/Certificate Application as soon as possible!

  • Log in to MyShasta
  • Go to Student Planning/Register for courses
  • Go to My Progress
  • At the top of My Progress, you will see your currently active program name and program code.
    • If this is not correct, please update your program/educational goal with a Change of Information form (Dynamic Forms)
    • A list of current programs and program codes are available in Chapter 3 of the Current Catalog year

We strongly encourage you to meet with a Counselor to review your program requirements for your final term(s) and confirm that your degree/certificate is up to date in our system.

The Degree/Certificate Application (Dynamic Form) is available online.

The “Degree/Certificate Application Preview Filing Period” allows our staff to evaluate your degree requirements in progress and notify you if you are on track or need to modify your classes for your final term(s). Degree applications received after the Degree/Certificate Application Preview Filing Period will not be previewed.

Name on your Diploma: The name that is on file with the Admissions and Records Office will appear on your diploma, unless you request a different diploma name on your degree application. Please review your name(s) in MyShasta to ensure that it appears correctly!

Degree/Certificate applications must be received by the Final Degree Application Deadline. Any applications received after this date may be returned to you for resubmission for the following term.

If you want to be included in the May Commencement Ceremony Bulletin, Spring/Summer Degree/Certificate applications must be received by April 1. No exceptions.

Enrollment Services organizes the Commencement Ceremony. More information about the ceremony will be available on their website in the spring semester. You will be sent an email about the Commencement Ceremony in later Spring term.

If you spoke with your counselor about a waiver or substitution, have you followed up with faculty to complete the documentation for that?

Final evaluations are completed after grades are posted for your final term. Degrees are evaluated in the following priority order:

  1. Associate Degree for Transfer (ADTs) and Health Sciences degrees that require confirmation of graduation for licensing exams
  2. University Studies Associate degrees
  3. All other associate degrees and certificates

Within each category, degree applications are evaluated in alphabetical order.

Evaluating and Posting Degrees & Certificates

We begin the process of auditing and awarding degrees 2 to 4 weeks after the submission of semester grades. You will receive an email with a notification of your status once the evaluation of your degree application is completed. Official confirmation of your degree will be posted on your transcripts and will be available as soon as your degree is awarded.

Due to the volume of degree applications, it can take between 2 – 3 months to evaluate all degree applications for a term.

Shasta College Admissions and Records Office shall evaluate and post any degree and/or certificate students are deemed eligible for automatically. If a degree and/or certificate is posted, students can request the degree and/or certificate to be removed by submitting the request in writing to the Admissions and Records Office.

Diplomas will be mailed to the mailing address listed on the graduate’s degree application. Please ensure that the address submitted on the degree application is valid at the time of mailing. Failure to provide the correct address will result in a delay or non-receipt of the diploma. Diplomas are mailed standard USPS.

Listed below are the diploma mailing schedules for each graduation term.

  • Spring graduates, diplomas will be mailed out by September 1 of the same year.
  • Summer graduates, diplomas will be mailed by October 1 of the same year.
  • Fall graduates, diplomas will be mailed out by April 1 of the next year.
