WHO ARE WE?
|
We are typical students just like you! We understand that going through college can be an obstacle sometimes and it’s even harder if we don’t have support or guidance. Our goal is to be a positive role model and provide encouragement and support for our fellow EOPS students. We will help you navigate through your college experience and provide support and tools that will enhance your success. Through ePASS, we will work with you individually or in group settings in areas such as college study skills, organization, planning, and understanding class content in subjects we have mastered.

Hi, my name is Corey. I'm a new peer advisor for the Shasta College EOPS. I'm very excited to be joining the team, and looking forward to getting to know everyone involved with EOPS. I've been attending Shasta College for two years now and hopefully only have one year left to earn my associates degree in the liberal arts. I love kids so naturally my goal is to be an elementary school teacher somewhere in the Redding area. I'm very close with my family, and nothing is more enjoyable than getting together with them for any occasion. In my free time I like going fishing. I enjoy paintballing when I can afford it and hanging with my friends doing whatever we can think of for entertainment. I try to make everything I do as fun as possible. That's a little about me. I plan to bring a lot more of myself to the new team of peer advisors and help to make this wonderful thing the previous group has created into something even greater.

Hi, my name is Mary and I'm very excited to be joining the EOPS Peer Advisors this year. I'm working on a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting. When I'm not in class or studying, I love spending time with my family, writing, swimming, doing just about anything outdoors, and hanging out at the lake as much as possible. My husband, kids, and grandkids are the light of my life that give me the drive I need to be successful in life and at school. I can't wait to get ePASS started for this next school year. Edcuation is very importatnt to me and I enjoy helping others, so being a part of the peer advising team is a real honor for me. I look forward to meeting lots of new students and reconnecting with others. Although it's a challeng, furthering my education at this point in my life has provenn to be the best decision I could have made. As a peer advisor, I hope to help others reach their goals as I reach for my own.

Hello, my name is Joshua and I am very happy to be one of your Peer Advisors in the EOPS program. I love helping others and this position is a great way for me to reach out in my career of service to people. I am majoring in Psychology and this is my second year at Shasta College. I plan to attend Simpson University starting in the Fall of 2011. When I'm not totally busy with the demands of life, I like to fish and exercise, but most important to me is my ministry. I personally know life can be hard and that can greatly affect just about every aspect of our day-to-day lives. So again, I am happy to be in a position to support, guide and motivate my peers. I plan to put my positive attitude, life experience, and love for people to good use for the EOPS program. I am freindly and easy to talk to, so do not hesitate to ask me anything or just say hello so we can become acquainted. I am looking forward to a very rewarding year with EOPS! Please join us at ePASS and other events.

Hi, my name is Heather. I am one of the new EOPS Peer Advisors. Being a Peer Advisor is an honor for me because EOPS has played a huge role in my success here at Shasta College. One of those successes was receiving the 2011 CARE Student of the Year award, and now I have the chance to help my fellow students like the past Peer Advisors did for me on so many occasions. If I were to be asked to describe myself, I would simply say that I am a proud mother of four wonderful children who reflect my parenting skills through their empathy and compassion that they exert towards others and their ability to believe in themselves no matter how challenging the task at hand may be. I am also a full-time student who works two part-time jobs. I admit my life is busy to say the least, but I wouldn't want it any other way. We are on this earth for only a short period of time. I want to make the time I have here on earth count by helping others even if it's as simple as sharing a smile and a quick hello in passing. In doing so I get a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day, and every night as I fall assleep I know I made a difference.
