The CCPG will waive the $46/per unit enrollment fee for California and AB540 coded residents who meet the financial income eligibility criteria based off of the FAFSA (Federal), California Dream Act, or the California College Promise Grant Application (State).

What is the California College Promise Grant (CCPG)?

The CCPG will waive the $46/per unit enrollment fee for California and AB540 coded residents who meet the financial income eligibility criteria based off of the FAFSA (Federal), California Dream Act, or the California College Promise Grant Application (State). The CCPG is formerly known as the Board of Governors (BOG) Fee Waiver.

If you are awarded the CCPG you will be responsible to pay the campus center, health fee, material fees and a parking permit.

If you already paid your enrollment fees and then receive the CCPG, a refund will be processed through the Admissions and Records Office. Call (530) 242-7650 for more information.

How to Apply for the CCPG

You can apply for the CCPG using your FAFSA, California Dream Act, or submit a state application. You'll receive an automatic reply regarding your eligibility. If you're awarded the CCPG, the grant will be posted to your Financial Aid award letter.

Option 1: Applying with your FAFSA

Submit your FAFSA /California Dream Act application to be evaluated for all federal and state aid, including the California College Promise Grant at: https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa

  • Submit your 2023-24 FAFSA/CADA for Summer 2023, Fall 2023, and Spring 2024 semesters

FAFSA processing can take 1-2 weeks. When a student submits a FAFSA, it can take 1-5 business days to be processed by the federal processor. Once that is complete it can take 1-2 weeks to be received by Shasta College.

Note that your residency must be coded as an AB540 or CAR to be awarded the CCPG and you must have at least $1,104 in unmet need awarded through the FAFSA. Students unmet need is calculated based off of the cost of attendance vs. the expected family contribution (EFC) determined by the FAFSA.

Option 2: Applying with the State Application

You can also apply for the CCPG through the state application at:

CCPG state application processing will take 1-4 hours (after our office receives the application).

Applications Submitted after 4:00 pm will be processed the following business day.

Please note: If you apply through the state application and determined not eligible, we recommend you submit a FAFSA. Even if you're not eligible through the CCPG state application, you may be eligible through the FAFSA.

For Health Information Management (HIM) program students: Students participating in the HIM program must complete and submit either the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or a California Dream Act application (CADAA), as applicable, to determine eligibility for the CCPG waiver in lieu of completing the CCPG State Application pursuant to Education Code Section 78042(c).
