The Library offers Orientations that target the diverse needs and busy schedules of Shasta College faculty and students. Library Orientations can be general or tailored to your course objective. If possible, please schedule your session at least one week in advance.
1. Meet & Greet: A 15-20 minute introduction to Library services and resources.
2. Standard Orientation: Demonstration of the online Library Catalog and at least two online full-text databases such as EBSCOhost, eBooks, ProQuest, and Opposing Viewpoints. (Check out all of the selections from our Web Site to select the most appropriate databases for your class.)
3. Information Competency Instruction: An exciting option for the student and instructor. In addition to a search demo, a course specific, hands-on activity is offered within the time allotted. The student takes away a strategy for navigating both print and online resources.
We'll confirm your Orientation request by email - normally within three business days. NOTE: Your Orientation session is not scheduled until it is confirmed.
