About the Instructor:

I was born in Wisconsin where I spent as much time as possible outdoors. I earned a B.S. degree in Wildlife Management at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, then moved to Texas to work on a M.S. degree in Range and Wildlife at Texas A&M University. My research involved studying the effects of herbicide application to control nuisance plant species on bird and mammal populations. During this time I lived on the Welder Wildlife Refuge along with a number of other graduate students and researchers. Following that I worked on a Ph.D. where I studied habitat use of the endangered Masked Bobwhite Quail in Southern Arizona and Northern Sonora Mexico. My first teaching position was at Reedley College which is in central California near Fresno. I've been teaching Forestry/Natural Resources at Shasta College since 2002.
