Preparing the Soil and Planting II (May 16, 2010)
The Community Teaching Garden at Shasta College hosts two workshops.  These workshops will be hands-on... digging in the dirt, planting seeds, and transplanting starts. Instruction will be “as we go!” All the food grown this year in the Community Teaching Garden will be donated to local Food Banks and to those in need. The May 16 workshop will be a continuation of the May 9 workshop. These are NO FEE workshops. Register by going

Shasta College Community Teaching Garden presents first workshop:  “ Getting Started in your Organic Food Garden .”  Sunday, March 7, 1:00-4:00 p.m., Shasta College Main Campus, 11555 Old Oregon Trail. Meet in Room 821.  (We will move outside if weather permits.)

Participants will receive information on techniques in preparing and enriching soil,

where to get seeds and plants, developing an efficient watering system, and

gardening support services, such as books, catalogues and consultants.

Participants will leave workshop with maps and plans for their own gardens. 

This workshop will be appropriate for both beginning gardeners and for those who want to improve their productivity.  Bring your garden problems and questions.  

Workshop leaders:  Jim Collins and Wayne Kessler.
Fee: $10.00.
