Dr. Joe Wyse
Superintendent/President
Dr. Joe Wyse is the Superintendent/President of the Shasta-Tehama-Trinity Joint Community College District. He started in this position on August 1, 2011 after serving for the previous four years as Vice President of Administrative Services for Shasta College. He completed his Educational Doctorate in Organizational Leadership at Pepperdine University in May 2014, and holds a Master's degree from Trinity International University, and a Bachelor's degree in Physics from Kenyon College. Dr. Wyse's prior experience includes serving in several administrative positions at Trinity International University, culminating as Executive Director at the Trinity Law School and Graduate School.
Under the leadership of Dr. Wyse, Shasta College has received three innovation in higher education awards from the State of California (in 2015, 2017, and 2018) and is one of 15 California community colleges to be selected to pilot a baccalaureate degree program. Since 2013, Shasta College has been successful in landing over $60 million in awards and grants, including $10.5 million in grants to serve as the backbone organization for North State Together, a community collective impact organization working to advance the cradle-to-career success of the citizens of a five county region in far Northern California.
Dr. Wyse is on the California Community College CEO (CCCCEO) Board and has served as its Chair and as the Chair of the League’s Board of Directors. He serves on the Northern Rural Training and Employment Consortium (NoRTEC) Workforce Development Board, and is a member of the Mercy Redding Advisory Council. Dr. Wyse has also served on the CCLC Advisory Committee on Legislation, the California Community College Athletic Association Board, and the Association of California Community College Administrators Board.
In his role as Superintendent/President and also in the positions he holds in statewide organizations, Dr. Wyse is often invited to speak on various topics. Some of his recent speaking engagements include:
