Becoming an Anti-Racist
Hosted by Heather Wylie, Chris Rodriguez, and James Tate
Racial inequality continues to be a defining factor of life here in the US. However, when asked, most Americans do not identify as racist. So why does racism persist? This workshop will explore why simply not being racist is not enough to combat systemic inequality. We'll examine, instead the idea of antiracism. Based on the work of Dr. Ibram X. Kendi, director of the Center for Antiracist Research at Boston University, we'll discuss how antiracism works, what it is, and how to practice it in our interactions for meaningful systematic change.
