Shasta College continues to place the safety and health of our students, staff, and community as our first priority. In our continuing efforts to reduce potential exposure and comply with the “shelter at home” protocols issued by national, state and local agencies, Shasta College plans to continue remote instruction and student services through May 15, 2020. As a result, all events will also be canceled or postponed through May 15, 2020.

We recognize how important major events such as Commencement and award ceremonies are for everyone in our communities and the District is actively working on alternatives for these milestone moments. As we have more information, we will share any alternative plans that have been put into place for these events.

Shasta College is continuing instruction through the Spring semester entirely online. Our campuses remain closed to everyone—students, non-essential employees, and the public until further notice. We are all in this together and Shasta College respectfully requests students and members of the public to refrain from using any Shasta College facilities -- including the athletic fields and other outdoor spaces. While the college’s continued goal is to be a valued partner and resource for our community we must do so in a remote, online method for the short term, until such time as local public health agencies have worked successfully to reduce the threat of exposure.

“For over 70 years, Shasta College has been a place for our community to connect and enjoy plays, sporting events, art shows, listen to world-class speakers, and take classes to improve their careers and lives. This is an unprecedented time and requires all of us to come together and do our part to stop the spread of this disease. For now, we will provide many of those same great things that our community relies on us for—just remotely, so we can continue to do our part as a member of our community” said Joe Wyse, Superintendent/President of Shasta College.

The college continues to monitor the situation and will provide further updates as possible.
