To the Shasta College Community:

I trust you are holding up as well possible under this long emergency.  I am writing to celebrate a positive success story - the hosting of Dignity Health and Shasta County Public Health on vaccine clinics last Friday and Saturday.  My understanding is that over 3200 Shasta County residents were vaccinated.   Thank you to our campus safety, physical plant staff and others who did so much behind the scenes to plan and execute in the assistance provided these agencies in the clinics.

Just a couple of notes/clarifications as we have received quite a number of inquiries from employees.  First, remember that we are, similar to when we were an evacuation center for the Carr fire, assisting these agencies in providing the space, some logistical and cleaning efforts, and campus safety support.  They are in charge of notifications of who can come for vaccines and are the agencies who receive the supply of vaccinations when they plan their clinics.  We are in constant planning with Public Health and Dignity Health to assist our employees. We expect more details in the days to come and are encouraged by the updates from Public Health. Like most of the last 11 months, new efforts like this are not perfect as situations change by the hour at times.  I appreciate your understanding.

Finally, I would like to end with a reminder to us all that the high stress levels continue for each of us, and we all have different levels of tolerance at different times in dealing with situations.  I ask you to continue to show patience and consideration in your interactions and keep modeling the behavior you wish to see in others to our students, the community we serve, and especially each other.  We have come so far together during the difficult emergencies since July 2018 and I remain confident that we will continue to do work together through this period of time.  Thank you once again for your many acts of service and sacrifice for the good of our students and our community.
