The new 11,900 sq. ft. CIS building will be built on the main Redding campus located at 11555 Old Oregon Trail in Redding. The CIS building will allow for the expansion and enhancement of hardware and software technology training to meet students’ needs in preparation for today’s changing workforce and tomorrow’s jobs. The building design will allow students and faculty the ability to collaborate in the exploration and development of both digital and hands-on skills in the unique technology-centered classrooms and labs, including lab space that will focus on the expanding field of robotics. JK Architecture Engineering was chosen to design the project, and McCuen Construction was selected to construct this exciting new project. The estimated completion date is July 2021.
The construction is made possible by voters’ approval of Bond Measure H in the 2016 general election, which gave the Shasta-Tehama-Trinity Joint Community College District the ability to secure $139 million in general obligation bond funding. The proposed use of Measure H funds was to be for the development of this project and other projects designed to improve job training; consolidate and enhance veterans’ services; provide public safety training facilities; and improve campus infrastructure through upgrades and repairs.
