Shasta College Ribbon Cutting Ceremony For New Computer Information Systems Building

REDDING, CA  –  Shasta College will hold a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new Computer Information Systems (CIS) building at the main Redding Campus, 11555 Old Oregon Trail. The public is welcome and invited to attend the ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on March 23, 2022. The new 11,900 square foot building officially opened in January to serve students for the spring 2022 semester. The new CIS building provides learning spaces where students and faculty can collaborate to explore and develop digital and hands-on skills in the unique technology-centered classrooms and labs—including a lab space to focus on the expanding fields of robotics and drone technology.

“This new building brings with it the ability to train our students in the cutting-edge technologies of today and to give them the skills and concepts needed for the future,” said Superintendent/President Dr. Joe Wyse. “Every aspect of this facility has been designed intentionally and in collaboration with faculty to mimic industry standards. As a result, students will learn the skills needed in a collaborative environment to succeed in the technology industry today.”

The construction of the new CIS building was made possible by the voter-approved bond, Measure H, in the 2016 general election. The passage of Measure H gave the Shasta-Tehama-Trinity Joint Community College District the ability to secure $139 million in general obligation bond funding to improve public safety training facilities, job training, veterans services, and campus infrastructure.
