Shasta College will hold the 71st Commencement ceremony on May 21, 2021, in the Shasta College Memorial Stadium as an in-person event. Due to COVID-19, the college will follow all social distancing guidelines and require anyone attending the ceremony to wear a mask while on district property. To ensure that everyone who wants to participate in the ceremony can, the college will require that everyone attending MUST have a ticket to enter campus. Graduates from 2020 and 2021 have received sign-up information and a link where they can request access. To account for limited seating capacity and provide an enhanced graduation experience for students, the college will limit the number of staff and faculty at the ceremony. Graduates will also be limited to inviting two guests to attend in-person. All seating will be assigned. The college is working with a third party to Livestream the event for those unable to attend in-person.

“We are excited that our graduates will be able to participate, in-person, at graduation this year,” said Superintendent/President Dr. Joe Wyse. “With everything these students have endured and the resiliency they have shown, I feel that this year’s ceremony has special significance for everyone involved. I look forward to recognizing our graduate’s accomplishments and celebrating their achievements as they walk across the stage to receive their diploma.”

The college is still confirming many details regarding the ceremony and anticipates that some details will be subject to change as the planning process progresses. Graduates will receive regular communications as more decisions for Commencement develop.
