Job Description

The Associate Teacher’s primary responsibility is to assist the Head Teacher and ensure the safety of children participating in the Weaverville All Summer Program and/or Preschool program. Under the direction of the Head Teacher, the Associate Teacher may have the responsibility to implement program activities.

DUTIES:

1.Supervise children ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.

2.Work with Site Supervisor to help facilitate daily activities.

3.Interact with parents and guardians, under the direction of the Site Supervisor.

4.Interact with Community Care Licensing during site visits.

5.Interact with Trinity County Office of Education employees during site visits and meetings.

6.Facilitate daily activities.

7.Ensure cleanliness of Center environment.

8.Adhere to the HRN Handbook.

9.Work with Site Supervisor/Head Teacher to develop curriculum and daily activities for children.

10.Interact with Community Care Licensing during site visits.

11.Attend trainings in order to obtain or keep Child Development Associate Teacher permit.

12.Other duties as assigned for agency growth and development.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.A high school diploma is required. A minimum of 12 college level Early Childhood Education units and 150 hours of experience in a licensed day care center required.

2.Must possess a Child Development Associate Teacher permit or be willing to begin the process to obtain one.

3.Excellent communication skills and experience working with preschool and/or school-aged children.

4.Ability to develop positive relationships with children and parents or guardians of differing socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds.

5.Must have MMR, TDAP, Influenza, HEP B, Chicken Pox, and Whooping Cough vaccination. A yearly flu shot, or written refusal is also required yearly. As well as any other vaccinations, shots, and/or testing required by the California Department of Education.

6.Able to obtain California Criminal and Child Abuse Index clearance.

7.Able to complete within 30 days of hire 15 hours of mandated health and safety training, pediatric CPR and first aid.

8.Possess or obtain within 30 days of hire a valid California driver's license and current vehicle insurance.

9.Work as a team player for whom the ownership of ideas is less important than the result of the collaborative effort. As such, the individual will be a team player who can take both leader and follower roles as the situation requires.
