With so many new decisions confronting all of us lately we are especially grateful for your patience as we worked on graduation plans for the class of 2020 that would honor your accomplishments and still keep everyone safe—which is always our first priority.
At this time we are excited to invite you, the class of 2020, to our first-ever virtual graduation ceremony! This is truly a historic event as this graduation will also mark our 70th commencement year. We recognize that this may not be how some of you hoped to celebrate your graduation, but after working with state and local leaders, and consulting staff throughout the campus we realized that the situation demands we adapt our traditional plans to ensure your safety and the safety of all who would typically come to celebrate with us. What we can assure you is that we have consulted with industry experts and other college leaders to provide you with an amazing experience that’s worthy of your efforts and successful completion. Please read about our plans below so you won’t miss out on being a part of Shasta College’s virtual commencement ceremonies for the 70th graduating class of 2020!
In the next month, you will be receiving a complimentary cap and tassel directly from Jostens to the address you indicated on your graduation application. If the address you supplied us on your graduation application has changed, please email studentlife@shastacollege.edu. The letter accompanying these items will explain a fun and interactive way to commemorate and share your unique journey, so stay tuned for that.
Additionally, we have partnered with StageClip, an international company that specializes in virtual graduations for universities like Purdue, John Hopkins and many more, to help us compile short videos, pictures, and quotes from every one of you. You will be receiving an email from this company within the next two weeks, please open it. If you do not receive one, please check your spam filter or junk inbox as it may automatically be routed there. As our partner in this celebration, StageClip has an impressive process whereby they will create a compilation of all of your information into a virtual commencement ceremony to go live on our website on May 15, 2020. You will receive a unique, personal link to your individual section to share with family and friends. A link to the Graduation website will be sent to you closer to the ceremony.
In addition to receiving your mortarboard, tassel, and virtual ceremony link we will also be sending you a special commemorative graduation gift box with a 70th Commencement Program, and Shasta College degree/certificate holder along with other special items personally curated by the Student Life Team.
Last, for those who wish to still participate in an in-person graduation ceremony we would like to extend an invitation to attend our 2021 ceremony. We will reach out to all of you prior to the spring 2021 ceremony to see who would like to attend closer to that event.
