Auditions for the Shasta College Spring 2012 Play:
January 23 through 26, 2012 at 7:00PM in the Shasta College Theatre
The Theatre Department presents Molière’s classic comedy, School for Wives, which addresses the issue of “how to train a girl to be the perfect wife.” An older man, Arnolphe believes the only way to get a pristine wife is to keep her ignorant and innocent as set his sights on his ward Agnes and decides that all she needs is the Bible and a book of maxims. But unfortunately for Arnolphe, Agnes is not as simple as he believes. This play is both wildly comic and serious. The poetry charming and arch. The characters are well detailed and, although the satire is strong, there is depth. Tenderness pervades the entire story. A rare treat…with period costumes and fabulous settings by David Fraser! Directed by Robert Soffian.
