General Institutional Information

  • Privacy of Student Records – FERPA
    • Shasta College maintains student records per the Family Educational Right and Privacy Act, also known as FERPA. To learn more, visit our FERPA webpage.

    • The U.S. Department of Education provides information about each school on the College Navigator website. Information about Shasta College can be viewed at College Navigator.
  • Refund Policy
    • Shasta College’s Refund Policy, methods, and applicable dates can be found by viewing the Refund Policy.
  • Textbook Costs and Institutional Charges
    • Students attending Shasta College have “a real and reasonable opportunity to purchase the required course materials from any other source but the school.” Costs associated with books, supplies, and equipment are not categorized as institutional charges and are not assessed to the student’s account ledger.
  • Textbook Information for Students
    • Class Schedule: Students can find the published class schedule on the Shasta College website at Course and Catalog page or in MyShasta via the Shasta Portal.
    • Bookstore: Required and recommended books and materials for each course can be looked up and purchased through the Shasta College Bookstore.
      • Students may also use a textbook’s ISBN to find and purchase it outside of the Shasta College Bookstore.

    • Required and recommended textbook and materials information for each semester is provided to the Shasta College Bookstore so they can be made available to students.

  • Constitution Day
    • Every year, Shasta College commemorates the date of the signing of the Constitution, September 17, 1787 with an educational activity that highlights its significance. The event is held on September 17 unless it falls on a weekend or holiday and then it will be held either the week before or week after.

    • To ensure students are able to purchase their textbooks Shasta College disburses federal Pell Grant to eligible students who are registered in courses the week prior to the start of a term and any available refund will be made available per the student's selected BankMobile refund preference on the Friday prior to the start of the term.

  • National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS)
    • When Shasta College originates and disburses a loan to a student, information about the loan will be submitted to the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS)  and will be accessible by guaranty agencies, lenders, and schools determined to be authorized users of the data system.

    • To access your NSLDS loan information, log in to Federal Student Aid with your FSA ID and password, then click on “My Loans.”

  • Entrance Counseling for Student Loan Borrowers
  • Exit Counseling for Student Loan Borrowers
    • Direct Loan borrowers are required to complete Exit Counseling when they cease being enrolled half-time, whether due to graduation, transfer, or withdrawing from their program at Shasta College.   • Private Education Loan Self-Certification Form
    • Shasta College will, upon request, provide a prospective borrower with the self-certification form developed by the U. S. Department of Education and will fill out the information on the form to the extent that the school has the information.
