Ms. Amy Westlund considers it a privilege to be working for Shasta College since December 2012. Her employment with Shasta College has provided her the opportunity to hold several positions in Human Resources which has allowed her to gain extensive knowledge and experience in human resources processes as it relates directly to California Community Colleges, including classification and compensation, investigations, grievances and complaints, collective bargaining, discipline and evaluation, Title V, Title IX, benefits administration, and employee leaves which includes a working knowledge of federal, state, and District policies, Education Code, Labor Code, CalPERS, CalSTRS, and collective bargaining agreements.

Prior to her employment with Shasta College, she opened and was the administrator of a state-licensed preschool, responsible for developing curriculum, overseeing a budget and busy program, supervising staff and students, as well as ensuring Title XXII compliance. This position introduced her to public education and its educational codes and practices. Her professional experience also includes providing excellent customer service and administrative support in an academic setting. Working in both public and private education in southern, central, and northern California has provided her with countless opportunities to serve diverse employees and students.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies and a master’s degree in organizational leadership, which have fostered her passion for education and provided her with the skills necessary to effectively assist others in pursuing and achieving their academic and professional goals. It brings her great fulfillment to work for an institution that provides numerous pathways for educational growth, both for students and staff.

Ms. Westlund’s education, coupled with her 30 years of experience serving in higher education, which includes 13 years serving in California Community College human resources, lends beautifully to her next opportunity to lead positive change – serving as Shasta College’s Associate Vice President of Human Resources / Equal Employment Opportunity Officer.
