Mike began serving as the Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Instruction in 2026, bringing more than a decade of dedicated leadership to Shasta College and a career deeply rooted in student success, educational innovation, and community service. He first joined the College in 2014 as Dean of what is now the Division of Development, Athletics, and Public Safety (DAPS), where he provided strategic oversight for a wide range of academic, athletic, and career‑technical programs.

Raised in Eureka, California, Mike began his educational journey at Humboldt State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology while competing for four seasons as a member of the Lumberjack football program. He later completed a Master of Arts in Education with an emphasis in Adult Education and Distance Learning from the University of Phoenix.

Mike’s professional career spans teaching, coaching, and educational administration at the high school, college, and university levels. Prior to his time at Shasta College, he served as Head Football Coach and Athletic Director at Mendocino College before becoming the Director of Student Life & Athletics. He has also worked as an Assistant Football Coach at Humboldt State University and as Athletic Director and Health and Physical Education teacher at St. Bernard’s Catholic School in Eureka.

Since arriving at Shasta College, Mike has provided steady leadership as Dean for Physical Education and Athletics, and later as Dean for Development, Athletics, Physical Education, and Safety. His administrative portfolio has included intercollegiate athletics, public safety training, and key Career and Technical Education areas such as Fire Technology and Administration of Justice. His broad experience across instruction, student services, and athletics uniquely equips him to guide the College’s instructional programs and support the success of students and faculty alike.

A committed member of the broader community, Mike served on the Shasta College Foundation Board from 2019–2026, helping to strengthen partnerships and expand opportunities for students.

Outside of work, Mike enjoys spending time with his wife, Tara, and their four children—Madeline, Mairead, Makenzie, and Anthony.
