A student who does not regain Good Academic Standing after three consecutive semesters on academic notice may be subject to an academic pause. A pause can either be one or two semesters long, and then the student may Restart at Shasta College.

Notification of Academic Pause

A student will receive academic pause notification within 30 working days after the end of the previous semester.

Academic Pause Notification after Fall Semester

  • If you are already registered in spring semester classes, you can remain enrolled while on pause status and have your status reevaluated at the end of spring semester.
  • If you are not yet registered for spring semester classes, you will be required to pause for spring; you can restart at Shasta College in the summer or fall.

Academic Pause Notification after Spring Semester

  • If you are already registered for Summer classes and Fall classes:
    • If you earn a 2.0 GPA or better in your summer classes, you may stay registered in your Fall classes (your academic standing will be academic notice level 2).
    • If you earn less than a 2.0 GPA in your summer classes, you will be dropped from your Fall classes and required to pause for at least one semester.
  • If you are already registered for Summer classes, but not Fall classes:
    • You can stay registered for Summer classes, but you will not be able to register for Fall classes.
