Mia Olvera
Project Coordinator - Career Cafe
Mia Olvera currently serves as the Project Coordinator for the Career Café at Shasta College, where she is dedicated to fostering employer partnerships, enhancing student career development, and supporting workforce initiatives. She first joined Shasta College in 2022 as a Student Services Coordinator for the Career Café and later served as a Substitute Internship Work Experience Coordinator, helping students gain valuable hands-on experience in their fields.
Mia’s journey in higher education began when she moved from Palm Springs, CA, to Redding in 2016 to attend Simpson University, where she played college softball while pursuing her degree. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2020, followed by a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership in 2022.
Before stepping into her role at Shasta College, Mia gained diverse professional experience, working as a Sales Associate at Orangetheory Fitness, an Investigative Intern with the Riverside County District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigations, and a Legal Process Clerk Intern with the Shasta County Probation Department. Her background in legal studies, business, and workforce development allows her to provide students with well-rounded career guidance.
Beyond her work, Mia is deeply connected to the Redding community, where she has built her career and life since moving here in 2016. After meeting her partner, a Redding native, she chose to continue growing both personally and professionally in the North State. Together, they enjoy traveling, spending time with family and friends, and doting on their beloved dog, Blue.
Mia is passionate about helping students bridge the gap between education and employment and is committed to building meaningful opportunities for student success at Shasta College.
