AUDITIONS — “Arcadia”
Sex is “the attraction that Newton left out,” says a character in Tom Stoppard’s “Arcadia,” a tragicomedy that explores the chaos and humor of romantic attraction alongside the existential question of free will versus fate.
The Shasta College Theatre Department will produce “Arcadia” October 9th through October 18th, 2026, including a special morning show for high school audiences on Friday, October 16th (for more information, contact Jessica Nieves at jnieves@shastacollege.edu).
Don't miss your chance to be a part of this amazing production!
Auditions will be held on August 24th and 25th at 6:00pm at the Shasta College Theatre. Both community members and students are encouraged to participate. Those auditioning should prepare a one-minute contemporary comedic monologue.
“Arcadia” is set in a time very close to our own, when a group of scholars struggles to decipher an historical puzzle involving a hermit, a poet, and a scandalous affair. What follows is a complex, life-affirming comedy from one of the all-time great playwrights.
The production will be directed by Dr. Gregory Thorson and will feature set design by David Fraser, lighting design by Tim Dye, and costumes by Mat McDonald. Tickets will be available for purchase at shastacollege.edu/ArtsEvents. For more information, contact Dr. Greg Thorson (gthorson@shastacollege.edu).
