The Golden Ghosts film is the latest work by Mt. Shasta filmmaker Mark Oliver. This follow-up project to the previous award-winning documentary - "From the Quarters to Lincoln Heights", aims to recover the forgotten history of our local gold rush. Filmed in Siskiyou County this new movie follows two African Americans who came to the North State in search of gold in 1852 and completely altered their life. Research for the story began in 2010 after scouring old census records that led to the discovery of many African American mine sites. Oliver recruited a local cast which some of you may recognize, Fred Magee, Victor Martin, Carla Charraga and Ruben Alvarado plus actors from Redding. The film recently won awards in New York City and is currently touring the festival circuit. Don't miss this chance to learn about our local history. Director & Actors will be available after the film to discuss their roles.
