Residence Halls “Commons” Building

The Commons, one of the three residence buildings, houses recreational and social activities for residents to enjoy themselves in safety and comfort.

Computer Lab

The Commons has a small computer lab complete with internet for those that don’t have their own computer. The commons and both dorms are setup with WI-FI that supports A, B and G systems. Check with your dealer to see if your laptop or PC is compatible with our system.

Commons Kitchen

We have an ADA compliant kitchen in the Commons that was renovated over winter break of 2007, complete with; two stoves, two sinks, four microwave ovens, and an ice/water machine. We have common use pots and pans, utensils and other appliances such as; a waffle iron, rice cooker, blender, coffee maker, a gas Bar-B-Q grill outside and other cooking items. Residents need to supply their own eating utensils, dishes, glass ware, storage containers and other personal items.

Commons Recreation

We have several recreational past times; two pool tables, a ping pong table, electronic darts, board games, a big screen TV with gaming capability and outdoor sporting equipment. For those that enjoy watching television, we have a 60” HD 1080P DLP Mitsubishi with surround sound in our TV lounge along with 400 DVDs and satellite service. We also allow residents to check out the DVDs for two days at a time, at no charge, to watch them in their room if they have personal equipment.

Commons Patio Area

For those that enjoy relaxing outside, we have a patio area complete with two picnic tables and umbrellas. The dorms are situated in a scenic natural area with a seasonal creek.

A Typical Dorm Room

All rooms are the same size; they measure approximately 16’ x 12’. Each person has a lofted bed with a full desk top underneath, along with two three drawer pedestals and a two position chair. Each person also has a three drawer chest and a built-in wardrobe/closet with hanging space and four drawers. The rooms were renovated over the summer of 2007 to include; new carpet, paint, lighting, windows, blinds, heating ventilation and air-conditioning units and new furniture in 2006.

Study Lounge

Study in comfort and quiet in the large study lounge made available in each dorm.

Laundry Facilities

Each dorm has a laundry room (not pictured here) with three coin-operated washers and three dryers; it’s $.75 to wash and $.50 to dry.

Food Service

There isn’t a food program associated with Residence Halls, but the cafeteria is right across the street in the Student Center. Food Service operates Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 6:00pm and they have a variety of options available to you. The Corner Grille offers cook-to-order breakfast and lunch, deli bar, grilled items, espresso bar, Mexican food and a full hot dinner. Pizza, salad bar, and a hot lunch can be enjoyed from the Center Express.

Other Amenities

You just can’t beat the convenience of living on campus at Residence Halls. If you have a car, you’ll receive a free parking pass for the “dorm only” parking lots. You’re within easy walking distance of all of your classes. You’ll save vehicle operating costs and valuable time. Your basic utilities are included in your dorm fees; you pay for your own room telephone or DSL if you want it, but as mentioned, we have wireless internet available at no charge and cell phone reception is pretty good. Lastly and probably most important of all that we have to offer, the experience and friendships that you gain from living at Residence Halls are priceless.
