Scott was born in Redding where he spent his childhood and most of his adult life.   He graduated from Shasta High and Shasta College,
and left Redding to finish his Bachelor’s degree at U.C. Berkeley.
Scott worked in the family business, Thompson’s Clothing Store, for 25 years.  In 1998, Scott earned his Master’s degree from Pacifica Graduate Institute.  He taught high school at Cascade School in Whitmore and was core faculty at National University for 11 years.  Since 2002, Scott has been the Executive Director of
the Shasta College Foundation.

Scott, an avid book collector, enjoys adding signed first edition books
to his ever growing collection.

He enjoys spending time in his garden, and plans to grow an orchard one day at his 157-year old farmhouse out in Old Shasta. Scott is a Pacific Masters swimmer with the Redding Swim team, and in the summer, he can be found exploring hiking trails
at Lassen Park.

Scott has two adult children and five grandchildren whom he loves spending time with in Colorado and Southern Oregon.
