Program Components

Students in the Ignite Program Cohort MUST register for the following courses:

  • PSYC-1A
  • CMST-60

The Ignite Orientation is designed to assist incoming students with their transition to  Shasta College. The Arrival Survival consists of an overview of the Ignite program, structured time to engage with their peers, various workshops, and the chance for students to familiarize themselves with campus. Each new student will be assigned a Peer Leader that will assist with their transition throughout the year. 

There will be campus tours, food, games, and swag!

Learning Outcomes

  • The student's transition to Shasta College will be guided through a process of informing, learning, and experiencing.
  • Students will learn about preliminary tools necessary for success in college (supports, portal, canvas, fin. aid., tutoring, etc.).
  • Students will become familiar with the physical campus and available resource locations.
  • Students will understand and be empowered to utilize campus resources.
  • Students will be able to establish and sustain important academic and professional networks through relationship building activities.
