Preparing for Your Exam: What to Expect
Scheduling Vendor Exams
Vendor exams must be scheduled directly through the testing vendor's website. Be sure to carefully review all vendor-specific requirements and testing policies before your appointment.
Exam Day Information
Before You Arrive
We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before your scheduled exam time to allow sufficient time for check-in and pre-test procedures.
Identification Requirements
A valid, government-issued photo ID is required for all exams. Acceptable forms of identification include:
- Driver's License
- State Identification Card
- Passport
Some testing vendors may also require a secondary form of identification. Please review your exam requirements in advance.
Parking Information
When parking on campus:
- Do not park in spaces marked with STAFF or VISITOR.
- Visitor parking is limited to 30 minutes.
- A daily parking pass is required for longer stays.
You may purchase a parking pass by:
- Using one of the parking kiosks located on campus
- Texting SCSTUPRK to 25023
- Scanning the QR code available in the Testing Center
The daily parking fee is $2.00, and you will need to enter your vehicle's license plate number when purchasing your permit.
Check-In Procedures
Upon arrival, a testing proctor will welcome you and assist with the check-in process. Before entering the testing room:
- All personal belongings must be stored in the designated area.
- Cell phones, smartwatches, and other electronic devices must be completely powered off.
- A security screening will be conducted to make sure no unauthorized items are brought into the testing room.
Late Arrivals
To make sure enough testing space remains available for all scheduled examinees, individuals who arrive more than 30 minutes late may be considered a no-show and may not be permitted to test.
If your exam was scheduled through a testing vendor, please contact the vendor directly regarding their rescheduling policies and any applicable fees.
During Your Exam
If you need assistance, have a question, or are permitted to take a break during your exam, quietly raise your hand and a proctor will assist you.
Completing Your Exam
Once you have finished your exam, please raise your hand and wait for a proctor to escort you from the testing room.
After retrieving your personal belongings:
- Some exams provide score reports immediately.
- For other exams, you may receive documentation indicating that your results will be available at a later date.
We look forward to supporting your testing needs and helping you achieve your educational and career goals.
Shasta College Student Make Up Exams
If this is your first visit to the Testing Center, you will be asked to present a valid form of identification. Acceptable IDs include a driver's license, student ID, passport, or any other photo identification that clearly displays your name and photograph.
Paper-Based Exams
For paper exams, your instructor will provide the testing materials and indicate any approved resources you may use during the exam, such as notes, textbooks, formula sheets, or calculators. Please check with your instructor if you are unsure about permitted materials.
Computer-Based Exams
Some computer-based exams may require the use of a lockdown browser and, in certain cases, a webcam. Because seating for exams requiring webcams is limited, please notify the Testing Center as soon as possible if your exam has this requirement.
Personal Items and Electronics
Before testing begins, all electronic devices must be turned off and stored away unless specifically authorized by your instructor. Approved devices, such as calculators, may be used when permitted. Scratch paper will be provided by the Testing Center if needed.
Returning Completed Exams
After your exam is completed:
- Paper exams are typically scanned and emailed directly to your instructor.
- In some cases, instructors may require the completed exam to be placed in a sealed envelope and delivered to them on campus by the student.
- For students receiving accommodations through PACE, instructors may request that completed exams be uploaded through the PACE application.
Our staff is available to answer any questions.
