Caring Campus/UKNIGHTED
What is UKNIGHTED?
Shasta College was selected to join the national Caring Campus initiative to solidify the already outstanding job we do connecting to students. This recognition gives staff more evidence-based tools to share with their campuses and increase community connection and student success.
Who is UKNIGHTED?
The Shasta College staff you know and love.
Staff in all areas and departments are represented by the UKNIGHTED committee. The original working group included classified and confidential staff who are trained to implement the UKNIGHTED 5. But it’s not just us—if you're actively working to make students feel seen and welcomed, you’re a part of UKNIGHTED too!
What are the UKNIGHTED 5?
Five practical steps we can take to make students and staff feel more connected to campus.
Studies have shown that if students feel more welcome, their rates of success, retention, and completion increase. The UKNIGHTED 5 steps we can take to make this happen are the 10 Foot rule, Nametags, Cross-Departmental Awareness, Warm Referrals, and First Week Greetings.

Highlights & Activities Across Campus:
Shasta College has adopted a Caring Campus outlook across campus – not only within Student Services but highlighted across our entire campus. There are a few Shasta College traditions and events that we look forward to that highlight our Caring Campus values:
Nametags:
Make sure to identify yourself as a Shasta Knight & faculty/staff member as a part of our Caring Campus commitment! Visit our Intranet page for a link to the Nametag Request Form!
Every Fall & Spring semester, Classified Staff, Faculty, and Administrators come together to welcome students back on campus through our “S.O.S. Stations!” S.O.S. Stations are designed to engage with, answer questions, and provide resources to students upon arrival to campus. As we know, it is imperative to be accessible to our students! Even if you are new to the Shasta College team, no problem, we’ll provide you with all the resources you need to be a successful S.O.S. Volunteer! Keep an eye on your email for a sign up link that goes out 2-3 weeks before each term begins!
Why Volunteer?
- Be part of the energy and excitement of the new semester.
- Help students feel confident and connected from day one.
- Show your Shasta College pride and support our campus community.

Show your pride and school spirit every Wednesday by wearing your college or program-specific gear!
Whether it's a hoodie, T-shirt, or hat, represent your department, major, or favorite campus program, and join the community in celebrating what makes us unique. Let's make every Wednesday a day to showcase our pride and unity!
If you don’t have college apparel, show your spirit with our school colors and wear something green!

Our Foundation sponsors our Thanks-a-Latte initiative, a program that celebrates acts of kindness among colleagues, with employees nominating one another each month. From the nominations received, two winners are randomly selected from each employee group—Faculty, Classified & Confidential, and Administration—to receive a $10 Starbucks gift card! Know a faculty or staff member who has modeled our Caring Campus initiatives? You can submit a nomination using this simple form.
