Scholarships can make college more affordable by providing financial support that does not need to be repaid. Every year, Shasta College students receive scholarships recognizing academic achievement, financial need, career goals, leadership, community involvement, and many other unique experiences and accomplishments.

Don't count yourself out! Many students are surprised to learn they qualify for scholarships. With one application, you could be matched with scholarship opportunities that fit your achievements, goals, and experiences.

Apply Once. Be Considered for Many Scholarships

Beginning with the 2026–2027 academic year, Shasta College will use one annual scholarship application to match students with Shasta College scholarship opportunities.

  • Application Opens: December 2026 (exact dates will be announced soon)
  • How to Apply: Complete the scholarship application through the Student Portal.

Who Can Apply

  • Current Shasta College students.
  • Graduating high school seniors attending schools within the Shasta-Tehama-Trinity Community College District.

Every scholarship is unique, and eligibility varies by award. Many scholarships consider one or more of the following:

  • Career or educational goals 
  • Academic achievement 
  • Program of study 
  • Leadership and community involvement 
  • Financial need 
  • Other donor-specific criteria 

Apply once and we'll do the matching. For most scholarships, if you meet the eligibility requirements, your application is automatically matched to available scholarship opportunities.

Some scholarships require additional information, such as short essay questions or supplemental materials. If you're eligible for one of these scholarships, it will appear in the scholarship portal for you to complete.

Applying for Need-Based Scholarships

To be considered for scholarships based on financial need, complete a current FAFSA or California Dream Act Application (CADAA) through the Shasta College Financial Aid Office.

When applications open, you'll complete your scholarship application through the Student Portal. Additional instructions will be available before the application period begins.

No. One application will match you with the Shasta College scholarships for which you qualify.

Eligibility varies by scholarship. Some scholarships require full-time enrollment, while others are available to part-time students. Review the scholarship requirements carefully, as eligibility differs by award.

Applying for scholarships will not reduce your eligibility to apply for financial aid. If you receive a scholarship, it will be included as part of your financial aid package and can help reduce your educational costs.

If you were awarded a scholarship during the 2025–26 application cycles with payments scheduled for the 2026–2027 academic year, your payment schedule will not change.

Scholarships are typically paid after Census Day each semester once eligibility has been confirmed. Some scholarships are paid in two installments – one in the fall semester and one in the spring semester.

The majority of the scholarships awarded during the 2026–27 application cycle will be paid at the end of the Spring 2027 semester, after eligibility requirements have been verified.

Some scholarships may have a different payment schedule, your scholarship award notification will include any additional requirements and the expected payment timeline.

If you received a Transfer Scholarship, your scholarship will be sent directly to your new college or university.

Changed your transfer school? Simply email scholarships@shastacollege.edu, and we'll update your information so your scholarship is sent to the correct institution.

Received a Scholarship from Another Organization?

Congratulations on your scholarship! If you've received a scholarship from a business, community organization, foundation, or other outside organization, here's what you need to know.

Check Your Award Status

Log in to MyShasta and go to My Financial Aid > Award Letter to see if your scholarship has been posted.

If your scholarship isn't listed yet, the funds may still be on their way from the scholarship provider. You may also contact the scholarship provider for an update.

How Your Scholarship Is Applied

Once your scholarship funds have been received and processed:

  • The scholarship will be applied to your student account.
  • Any outstanding college charges will be paid first.
  • The remaining balance will be mailed to you by check at the address listed in MyShasta.

Tip: Make sure your mailing address in MyShasta is up to date so you don't experience delays receiving your refund.
