This July Shasta College presents Stephen Sondheim’s classic musical thriller Sweeney Todd. This ground-breaking musical won the Tony award for “Best Musical” in 1980. It is known for its breathtaking storyline as well as its gorgeous musical score. Auditions for Sweeney Todd are April 17th and 18th at Shasta College. Auditions on 4/17 will take place in the Shasta College Theatre and auditions on 4/18 will be in room 638 at Shasta College. Please arrive 15 minutes before you scheduled audition time. Callbacks will be held on 4/23 from 5-9 in room 633 at Shasta College and will be by invitation only. Sondheim’s classic musical thriller tells the exciting and suspenseful tale of a barber, Sweeney Todd, who returns to London after 15 years of exile. Mr. Todd was wrongfully convicted of a crime he did not commit and returns to take vengeance on the corrupt judge who banished him. Along the way he meets a cast of entertaining characters, such as Ms. Lovett, who makes the best meat pies in London. Sweeney Todd is frequently revived on Broadway and across the country and is a classic of the American Musical.

Performance dates for Sweeney Todd will be July 7th-23rd at the Shasta College Theatre. The production is directed by Dr. Gregory Thorson with David Fraser as the set designer, costumes by Hilary Fahey, lighting by Eddie Sadler and hair and makeup by Matthew McDonald. Musical direction is by Dr. Elizabeth Waterbury, with cheorgraphy by Hillary Rogerson. Sweeney Todd is produced with special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service.
