The Community Speaker Series presents: Juan Felipe Herrera 21st Poet Laureate of the United States
Please join us on September 7th at 7:00 p.m. in the Shasta College Theatre as we meet Juan Felipe Herrera, United States Poet Laureate (2015-2017) and hear his inspiring and enthralling story. Mr. Herrera has the unique distinction of being the 21st Poet Laureate of the United States and is the first Latino to hold the position. In addition to the U.S. Poet Laureate, Mr. Herrera has also served as California State Poet Laureate. Mr. Herrera has received many honors including the PEN/Beyond Margins Award, the National Book Critics Circle Award, and the Ezra Jack Keats Award. Mr. Herrera is also a performance artist and activist on behalf of migrant and indigenous communities and at-risk youth.
