REDDING - This spring Shasta College is producing the classic comedy As You Like It, by William Shakespeare. One of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies As You Like It follows its heroine Rosalind as she flees persecution in her uncle's court, accompanied by her cousin Celia to find safety and, eventually, love, in the Forest of Arden. In the forest, they encounter a variety of memorable characters, notably the melancholy traveler Jaques who speaks many of Shakespeare's most famous speeches—such as "All the world's a stage". Performances begin March 10-13th, and March 17-19th at the Shasta College Theatre. All shows start at 7:00 pm except for the 13th at 2:00 pm. Cost is $8 general admission and $5 students and seniors. ASL signed performances will be available on the 13th, 18th and 19th.

Shasta College’s production is set in the Elizabethan time-period and features wonderful period costume and scenic design. As You Like It uses Shakespeare’s text in a way that is accessible, entertaining and thought-provoking—delightful for the Shakespeare novice and expert alike!
